Are you taking a baby or toddler on vacation? Whether you are traveling on a short or long holiday during this holiday season, reaching your destination safely is one of the most important factors to consider.

Babies can be picky at their best, but even more so when confined to the car for a few hours. You want to make your baby happy during the journey to avoid breakdowns on the road. After all, a happy baby means a happy driver!

We talked with Lesego Mashishi-Matlala, an occupational therapy expert at Huggies, about how to easily travel with a baby during this holiday season.

Make sure your vehicle is safe and ready for long-distance riding. Fill the tank with gasoline, check the tire pressure, and change the oil when needed. The last thing you want to do is to crash with your baby. Always make sure your baby is sitting in the car seat

Make sure you have a car seat where your baby can sit comfortably, with padded and adequate head and neck support. Neck cushions provide extra support and cushion for your baby, allowing them to rest while they sleep. Foldable strollers and cribs are ideal for saving travel space. Provide babies with different durable toys that can provide sensory stimulation and make babies’ bottles and pacifiers within reach.

If you have a suitable diaper for your baby when you travel, changing the diaper is easy. Huggies Gold diapers provide a super soft, dry inner lining that can absorb moisture in a few seconds to ensure baby's comfort. A diaper bag with waterproof lining and shoulder straps will increase the convenience of diaper changing. When changing your baby's diaper while traveling, the vial of disinfectant gel is essential. Sealed bags are also essential for baby medicines and toiletries to minimize spillage in the bags.

If you know that your baby often gets motion sickness, it is best to prepare a container, plastic bag, wet wipes and spare clothes for emergency use. Stop regularly during the journey so that you and your baby can breathe fresh air and "stretch your legs".

Multiple hats and multiple sets of clothes, two to three sets a day, are essential. Huggies Pants are perfect for babies who are just starting to walk. Their water absorption is the same as your ordinary open diapers, but with a unique design that fits like underwear, allowing babies to twist, crawl, climb and roll freely, allowing them to explore their surroundings comfortably.

Don’t forget to bring your baby’s painkillers and basic first aid kits for minor injuries, and provide your baby’s healthcare provider's contact information for emergency medical advice.

Having an inflatable baby bathtub makes it more convenient for you to take a bath at your destination. At night, strategically place the baby’s portable crib nearby, and cover the crib with mosquito nets according to the destination. When changing diapers in the middle of the night, bring a night light to keep the room light in a soothing low light.
